Review/Comparisons of Matte Foundations

Last night me and the BF Finally decided on going on Holiday with friends this Aug after a few weeks of deliberating! There will be around 10-15 of us all heading to Las Vegas!!! I can't wait! So now my dilemma is i have some serious saving to do and that's going to mean cutting back on cosmetic purchases :(
So to prepare myself for the dry spell i have been digging out all my makeup to see what products i could fall back in love with, thus saving me some money :)
First on the agenda was matte Foundations. Having an oily skin, i have tons of these lying around so thought i would do a mini review/comparison on the ones i have.

First up is Chanel Mat Lumiere
I have this in Colour 20 Clair. First impressions is it feels lovely and creamy. It has an SPF of 15 which i assume is what gives it its instant glide. However it seems to dry and get sucked up into the skin far too quickly for me to blend it for as long as i would like. Up close the texture was ok although it did show up every tiny imperfection on my face! It lasted all day without moving which was its only real saving grace. Oh yeah and also that it smelled really yummy and expensive (which it was at £28 by the way!)

Next up was Estee Lauder Double Wear and Double Wear Light

I have tried these foundations in various shades (i have shell beige and pale almond in double wear and 02 and 03 in double wear light) At one point these where my favorite Foundations. They ticked all the right boxes, Not too heavy, nice texture that didn't show up every line and boy did it last all day. Not a bit of oil came through! I guess the only real problem i found with these is That i could never really get the colours right without having to mix. Most were too dark but the lighter ones were very pink. Others were very orange. I had the same problem with Double wear light despite only having 4 colours to choose from. 02 was too light and 03 just a tad too orange. It's a shame because it has such a nice finish. Maybe in summer...

So lastly is Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid

Ok so this one i am super impressed with. It's a fairly recent purchase so perhaps i have not had it long enough to grow tired of it? What i love about this product was how much it surprised me. Having worked in 4 high-end makeup companies it has always been drilled into my head that you get what you pay for. if it cost £5 it will look it costs £5 on your face. Don't get me wrong i still buy drugstore cosmetics but foundations was always an item i would never scrimp on. So boy was i surprised after trying this one. The texture was super smooth and glided on with ease. The colour was just right ( i have cameo 020) not too light or dark and equal measure of pink/yellow. A classic beige! I know the finish is not quite matte but with a satin finish i think i get the best of both ways. Not greasy or even dewy but looks natural on the skin that can sometimes be hard to achieve with matte finishes. It didn't last as long as either the Chanel or Estee Lauder but it still did the best part of the day and its a sacrifice im willing to pay (and a price im willing to pay at £5.99 on special offer at superdrug!) Its only downfall was that i did seem to need quite a bit more than most other reviewers mentioned. I used around 2 pumps whilst others have claimed to only need 1/2, but i guess every skin is different right?

I have used, and still have sooo many other matte foundations that would simply take days to review in one post but i have listed some below so if anyone would like me to review one in particular just leave me a comment.

Stila Natural finish Oil free make-up (discontinued in the uk)
Giorgio Armani Matte Silk Foundation
MAC Studio fix Powder / and liquid
Nars Oil free Foundation
Laure Mercier Oil free foundation
Chantecaille Future Skin
Benefit Hello Flawless....

to name but a few.

Until next time...
